Actually, a friend mine, Ruby, has a very interesting theory about the male/female geek dynamic. Male geeks expect their female counter parts to unrealistically awesome, and a lot of males fall into "there aren't any women who will like me because I'm such a geek" because they set their standards in the wrong way. What they're really essentially saying is "There aren't any women I want to date me, since I want such and such."
Anyway, she puts it better than I do. I need coffee.
