Take any board which begins empty. The game proceeds in 5 steps

   1. Player 1 decides three things, which he must convey to player 2:
         1. what the pattern will be;
         2. whether the builder or blocker will receive free moves in step 3;
         3. how many free moves that player will receive.
   2. Then, player 2 decides which player is the builder, and which is the blocker.
   3. Either the builder or blocker takes free moves as specified in step 1.
   4. Starting with the builder, the players alternate moves.
   5. The game ends either when the board is completely full or the pattern has been built. If the pattern has been built, the builder wins. Otherwise, the blocker wins.

There is something wondefully Hexic about Chat Noir.

A couple questions is makes me ask:
How is the cat choosing it's move?
Are there any board positions, where there is no win for the player?

This cat buisnes is related to Conway's Angel game, and it's also a great way to relax.

I haven't the faintest clue what game this guy thought he was playing, but it certainly wasn't Hex. Oh god.

I woke up this morning at around 07:40, came downstairs, and had a bowl of cereal. Last night I was lamenting the lack of Hex, and board games in general in my life, so when I got up, I took the lappy downstairs, and started playing on Kurnik. I had a real hankering of strategy games I suppose.

I met up with this groovey guy zxoivzjxco, and we played a couple rounds. He was a big fan of walking through games very slowly, going "Okay, we could consider h3, or g4, etc." It was nice to have some one who wanted to table talk a little bit, as opposed to just playing a straight-noobish kurnik game. Now I gotta see if Derek will do some PBeM.

Off to class for 11:00!
